Field Training Team

Splatter have always advocated a certain approach to merchandising. We have seen many clients in the past decide they are going to send their POS into stores and allow the retailer to put it on display. Definitely a cheaper option, but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, retail staff are usually too busy or unable to put POS out where it should be or it cannot be found in their vast warehouses, and any non-compliant stores hugely effect sales as the POS sent in is always a key driver in creating new sales.Our approach has always been to send us the POS. We then handle the pick, pack and dispatch but here is the difference – we send the materials to our installers, not the stores. In turn, the installer receives the POS, loads up their car, heads to stores, walks the materials through the front door and installs it. By utilising this approach, we have taken product compliance levels from an average of 40% (clients sending POS to store) to 92% when we walk it in and install it.

Mainly in grocers, product sampling is usually performed as a longer term focus rather than trying to gain big day one sales and those taste tests are there to give consumers a flavour of something new or something they may not have tried before. And if they like it enough, it soon becomes part of their weekly shop and that is what we want to help achieve alongside our brands.

In general, our full time field teams comprise of 8 regional reps who are located in key areas where the footfall is highest, usually London, Bristol, Southampton, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle, Glasgow and all surrounding areas. Each rep generally visits 6 stores per day, giving high quality training time to re-sellers as well as ensuring stock, pricing and promotions are all visible. With approx. 960 re-sellers visited each month, the potential for extra sales and perfect compliance is clear to see and gives you the very best opportunity to maximise brand awareness and those all important sales.

Splatter regularly visit 300+ Co Op stores across the UK to install POS for various brands.

The existing issue was that POS execution was not getting done to the level required with many campaigns being let down by poor execution.

Splatter stepped in and changed one fundamental thing straight away - our merchandisers had to take ownership of the POS, walk it through the door and install it on the shop floor. Utilising our expertise, staff network and logistics platform, the results speak for themselves taking an unworkable 35% compliance level across all stores to a regular install level of 95%, creating more sales for brands.

Visiting over 300 Co Op stores each month, Splatter install all POS for major brands such as Heineken, Budweiser and Cadbury to name a few, ensuring no less than 90% installation rate across the estate.

When Bud Light came to the UK, Splatter helped get this into the hands of beer fans across the UK.

By setting up mini stands inside of key convenience stores, we gave away free mini cans of Bud Light. Needless to say, the reaction was overwhelmingly positive!

This helped Bud Light establish itself as one of the one popular new beers on sale and Budweiser continue to sell this across the UK and huge numbers.

Bud Light required an agency to help promote the launch of Bud Light in convenience stores across the UK. By handing out mini cans of Bud Light, the results spoke for themselves!
